So what's the deal with cycling shorts and why do you need them? Well let me try and give you the answers. First of all mountain bike Shorts have many advantages over regular shorts. They also come in different styles and for men and women. If you're concerned about looking unconventional they even have some that appear to be regular shorts.
Advantages Of Mountain Bike Shorts
The main advantage is the material that they are made from and how they are put together. Most are made from Lycra. Lycra is a synthetic fiber that is known for its exceptional elasticity. This allows for a tighter fit and little or no chaffing. It is strong and durable so it can help protect you from injury. Don't get upset, as it is also called "Spandex". They are put together in panels, most are seamless, and can come with padding in areas needed most for cyclists. You may not think you need them, but after you first long ride using them, I don't think you will go without them in the future.
Mountain Bike Pants for Colder Mountain Bike Routes
Your arsenal of mountain bike accessories should also include cycling pants. This is important for year round mountain bikers and those higher altitude routes. Depending on the temperature you need versions using different materials.
Some use Lycra just like the shorts and are very thin, elastic and flexible. The next level up is another version of the same thing that uses a different process to make them thicker and seem to have a liner. Last is thicker yet and made of a fleece with a wicking property which takes moisture away from your body and into the fabric.
You can get them with Padding, but most riders wear their padded mountain bike shorts underneath so they can remove the outer pants if they get to hot. Besides, mountain bike shorts are not designed to be worn with underwear anyway.
So there you have it. Those are the reasons to have cycling shorts and pants on you mountain bike clothing wardrobe. To read more about different mountain bike accessories go to this website: mountain bike accessories online
